Award winning chef David De Sousa uses fresh, local ingredients wherever possible to provide a sensibly short set menu offering home-made soup of the day, chicken liver paté, melon with port sauce, chicken and leek pancakes and avocado with prawns among the starters.
Main courses could be chicken breast stuffed with wild mushrooms in watercress sauce, sirloin steak with grain mustard sauce, lamb's liver with bacon and onion gravy, kidney and mushroom pie with puff pastry lid.
A separate fish list includes halibut with anchovy butter, fresh tuna with tomato and paprika sauce or scampi Florentine.
Main courses, all including fresh vegetables or salad, are priced from £6.75 - £9.50. Look out for the Daily Special which might be the exotic Chicken Piri Piri, Braised Knuckle of Lamb with minted mash or Confit of Barbary Duck on red cabbage.
